Owl Butterfly
Photograph of an owl butterfly – so called because of the huge dark brown and cream ringed eyespots on their wings. They resemble owls’ eyes. The insect is dark brown in colour and the distinctive beady eye on the underside of the wing is looking straight at the onlooker. It is resting on the side of a backlit mesh of blueish green with its wings folded, and feet clinging to the plastic surface.
